Father’s Day here, but who will be receiving the Father’s Day gift? Is it your father…or mother? Single mothers on Father’s Day, you all deserve presents. Single parent mothers are the ultimate superwomen. Not only do they conquer the duties of motherhood, they also take on the braveries of fatherhood. Single mothers run around like a chicken with their heads cut off. They work all day, but then come home to only work even more. Without the help of a father figure, they somehow are able to get the job done. Single mothers are essentially omnipresent because they do it all.
Single mother households are unfortunately becoming the new “norm.” Thankfully, despite the dilemma, many fatherless children are still succeeding with the help of their mothers. A side from the circumstances, single parent mothers will do anything to ensure that they are supplying their children with tender, love, and care.
Single mothers deserve presents on Father’s Day. You are a gift to society. Without your courageous characteristics to take on the responsibilities of your own and others, where would many of us be?
Single mothers; kick your feet up on Father’s Day. No matter if you are divorced, remarried, never been married or widowed; June 16th, 2013 is your day. If it weren’t for you, many of us would not be who we are, today. Therefore, Happy Father’s Day and we thank you.

Dear Daddy,
Even while I was in mummy’s belly, you loved me and couldn’t wait to meet me. You always had your head on her tummy just to feel closer to me. And when I was born, you burst out in tears of joy because you were overwhelmed with the miracle that just took place. Holding my tiny fist you stared at my little self and were short of words. And since then you have held my hands as it grew bigger and stronger.
When I fall, you were there to catch me. When I had a bad day at school, you were there to give me the biggest hug and make sure that I had a smile on my face. You provided all my needs and made sure I never lacked a thing. You always prayed for me to be the best at what I do.
And even though the distance has made me see you less often as I would love to, I want you to know that I will always be your little girl and will always love you no matter what.

Father’s Day is coming up, so in honor of dear dads, TRUEYARNz is presenting this father-themed post.
Today we look into the history of Father’s Day. Sadly, retailers and marketers, in an effort to make a quick buck, have bastardized the original meaning of Father’s Day. A holiday that was supposed to honor dad and enumerate his special qualities, is now used to make quick sales of irrelevant items;while getting your dad a quality n affordable gift is greatly encouraged;hopefully by understanding why the concept of Father’s Day was created, we can better celebrate and honor the fathers who raised us from children into strong n responsible adults!
The History of Father’s Day in the United States:

There are two stories of when the first Father’s Day was celebrated. According to some accounts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of honoring and celebrating her father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon at church in 1909. She felt as though mothers were getting all the acclaim while fathers were equally deserving of a day of praise (She would probably be displeased that Mother’s Day still gets the lion’s share of attention).
Sonora’s dad was quite a man. William Smart, a veteran of the Civil War, was left a widower when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. He went on to raise the six children by himself on their small farm in Washington. To show her appreciation for all the hard work and love William gave to her and her siblings, Sonora thought there should be a day to pay homage to him and other dads like him. She initially suggested June 5th, the anniversary of her father’s death to be the designated day to celebrate Father’s Day, but due to some bad planning, the celebration in Spokane, Washington was deferred to the third Sunday in June.
The other story of the first Father’s Day in America happened in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. Grace Golden Clayton suggested to the minister of the local Methodist church that they hold services to celebrate fathers after a deadly mine explosion killed 361 men.
While Father’s Day was celebrated locally in several communities across the country, unofficial support to make the celebration a national holiday began almost immediately. William Jennings Bryant was one of its staunchest proponents. In 1924, President Calvin “Silent Cal” Coolidge recommended that Father’s Day become a national holiday. But no official action was taken.
In 1966, Lyndon B. Johnson, through an executive order, designated the third Sunday in June as the official day to celebrate Father’s Day. However, it wasn’t until 1972, during the Nixon administration, that Father’s Day was officially recognized as a national holiday.

Other countries also picked up on the idea of Father’s Day(nigeria inclusive). While many followed suit by celebrating it on the third Sunday in June, some decided to honor dads on different dates. So, make sure you know when to pay your respects to your dear dad wherever you may be!

In a collection made up of flirty lace, shift dresses and a colour scheme of orange, blue, monochrome, and hints of purple, young talent Tomi Adewoye has come out with her debut collection which is being tagged “ Proforma”.
According to the designer, the name and theme of the collection has inspiration from the lacy lingerie that women often favour. Although in the collection she has used lace to create structured pieces which simulate the female form as opposed to the usual swishy and flowy nature of most outfits made from lace.

Photos: Robbery Suspects Stripped Naked, Almost Beaten To Death By Angry Mob In Ilorin
Two robbery suspects, members of a robbery syndicate that specialize in snatching money and valuables from unsuspecting passengers were nabbed by angry mob along stadium road, Ilorin on Wednesday.
According to the unsuspecting victim, (name withheld):
“I went to change some currency from naira to dollars at a bureau de change. After the transactions, I stopped the taxi with the men inside. Getting to my destination, I asked the driver to stop but he said he wanted to pick someone ahead before dropping me so he moved up a bit and stopped. I tried to open the door but it was difficult so the man near me moved closer to me, I never suspected he wanted to rob me, tried to assist in opening the door. As I dropped from the cab, I discovered that I have been robbed so I quickly raised alarm, they quickly threw down my money and sped off, so passers bye assisted in giving them a hot chase with Okada and apprehended the two of them”.
It took the quick intervention of men from Special Anti Robbery Squared, SARS, for the suspects not to have died of the beating sustained by angry mob along stadium road and circular Hotel junction where they were chased to.
The robbers were arrested in a Mazda taxi cab, Registration number XD 358 KEY Kwara number and officially registered with taxi union with registration number LRN A5/ 264.
The Police Public relations Officer, DSP, Femi Fabode confirmed the arrest of the robbers and stated that they actually specialize in robbing people coming from banks adding that they have their own taxi with which they monitor bank customers and pretend that they are taxi drivers on commercial duty. As at time of compiling this report, the PPRO said he doesn’t have their full identity but confirmed that they are notorious criminals and the investigations are still on with them as they are remanded at Police ‘A’ Division station, Ilorin.

Groom Rapes Guest At His Own Wedding
In a very shocking, almost unbelievable incident, police on Friday arrested a bridegroom for raping a guest in Murar Colony area of Gwalior, India. The groom had took advantage of the crowd and raped the victim on his wedding day, said reports.
According to a senior cop of Murar police station, the 23-year-old victim was raped by the bridegroom hours before his marriage on June 3. He took advantage of the crowd and dragged the girl into a secluded corner of the guest house and raped her, he added.
The accused also forced the victim to drink cola laced with drugs, due to which she became unconscious and could not raise an alarm. The victim kept mum for two day and approached the Murar police station with a relative after all the marriage rituals were over.
The bridegroom was arrested on Friday and has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
